Michael D. C. Drout is Associate Professor of English at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. He is the author of How Tradition Works: A Meme-Based Cultural Poetics of the Anglo-Saxon Tenth Century (2006) and the editor of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Beowulf and the Critics, the J.R.R. Tolkien Encyclopedia, and the journal Tolkien Studies.
